Janis Burl is founder and owner of Social Strategies, LLC where she provides consultation in social media, social media care, analytics, training, facilitation and leadership development. Prior to this position, she was the Social Media Branch Manager for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). She holds a Master of Science degree in Organizational Development & Human Resource Management from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

While at TSA, she redesigned how TSA communicates with the traveling public which increased the followers by 23% and engagement by 468% in less than a year. To provide excellent customer service, Janis led the AskTSA Team in maintaining a less than 5-minute response time to customers asking travel related questions with a customer satisfaction rate of over 90%. Focusing on improving the ability for all customers to communicate with TSA, she added customer text messaging technology, and Artificial Intelligence technology to help with the increase in travel related questions. During her tenure, TSA was awarded Social Media Team of the year by Government Social Media Conference (GSMCon), and received the Citizen Service Award by Granicus. Janis has been highlighted on The Tonight Show, NBC Nightly News Kids Edition, A Bit of Optimism podcast with Simon Sinek, the Washington Post, the New York Times, Seattle Times, and many others.
Janis currently resides in Niagara Falls/ Buffalo NY area.
