Mike Allende has been leading social media for the Washington State Department of Transportation for about seven years, helping it become a national leader in delivering information in an engaging, relatable way. Whether delivering bad news about mountain pass closures, reporting information about a collision or helping a child track down a lost dinosaur, Mike uses WSDOT’s robust social presence to build and connect with a community in a way that helps break down the wall between the government and the public. Mike lives in Edmonds with his wife, daughter, dog and two cats and spends most of his time thinking about the Seattle Mariners.
